Today I asked my students to write a page about one thing that they value, I told them it could be a person or an object. We discussed what it means to value something or someone, and why we as people value things. A numerous amount of students said they value their parents and pets, however one student  said they value their education. Hearing this made me very honored to be teaching such a thoughtful class, because not everyone is able to receive an education, and for a young first grader to know that that is a privilege is amazing. Especially proud of my class today.

Respect in the Classroom

   In the first week of class I love to have fun getting to know my students, but I also make sure to go over some of our main classroom expectations so they can know exactly what to expect for the year. I had the kids take turns demonstrating how they would follow these rules. We had fun watching the kids act out "make believe situations" in which they would use these rules. Some students even went as far as collecting their own props and planning out the lines they would say! They're a very bright and lively bunch that are always ready to learn! This is going to be a very fun class to teach.

Getting to know eachother

    I know it was probably very nerve racking for you to send your child off to first grade for the first day. However I had a great first day getting to learn about your child through our 'getting to know each other' activities. The kids had a lot of fun and were friends almost immediately! I can tell it is going to be a great year already!
